Thanksgiving Week Basketball Tournament Viewing Guide

I love early season college basketball tournaments. We get to see games against teams that normally wouldn't be playing against each other playing in places they normally wouldn't be playing. And the best part is that there is basketball on everywhere. You can see a basketball game on from noon to midnight on pretty much all of the sports channels. I'm going to go through where you can expect to see the ACC teams playing this week. So sit back, grab a beverage and some turkey leftovers, and enjoy some holiday hoops!

Fabletics Jacksonville Classic- Florida State

This one started last night, and Florida State was able to knock off Loyola Marymount to set up a championship match up with Missouri.

Monday November 22nd

Championship: Florida State/Missouri 8:30 PM CBS Sports Network

Consolation: Loyola Marymount/SMU 6 PM CBS Sports Network

Roman Legends Classic (Newark, NJ)- Virginia

Virginia gets to face off with former player Jabri Abdur-Rahim who transferred to Georgia after his freshman year in the semi-finals. Georgia is playing back-to-back ACC teams after losing to rival Georgia Tech on Friday night.

Monday November 22nd

Virginia/Georgia 7 PM ESPNU

Providence/Northwestern 9:30 PM ESPN+

Tuesday November 23rd

Consolation 5PM ESPN2

Championship 7:30PM ESPN2

Maui Jim Maui Invitational (Las Vegas, NV)- Notre Dame

Notre Dame is undefeated this year, but they've only played two games so far. This is always a good tournament, so it will be nice to see the Irish play some more games against better competition. They open up play late tonight against Saint Mary's on ESPN2. They'll either play Oregon or Chaminade tomorrow and another game on Wednesday. This tournament is taking place outside of Maui for the second year in a row due to Covid.

Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis (Paradise Island, Bahamas)- Syracuse

This might be the best tournament taking place this week. 6 of the 8 teams are ranked in the top 50 on KenPom (Baylor, Michigan State, UConn, Auburn, Loyola-Chicago, & Syracuse). Syracuse needs to find some defense this week after giving up 100 in a loss to Colgate over the weekend. Hopefully they'll get to play Baylor in the second round, and any matchup they get on day 3 should be a good watch. I've always enjoyed this tournament because they set the court up in a conference room in the Atlantis Resort. Syracuse's first game is Wednesday at 5 on ESPN2 against VCU.

NIT Season Tip-Off (Brooklyn, NY)- Virginia Tech

This tournament features the matchup this week that I'm most excited about in Memphis and Virginia Tech. The Hokies are playing really well so far this year, but haven't faced much competition. Memphis will for sure be a good test. Tune in Wednesday night.

Wednesday November 24th

Xavier/Iowa State 7 PM ESPNU

Memphis/Virginia Tech 9:30 PM ESPN2

Friday November 26th

Consolation 7 PM ESPNU

Championship 9:30 PM ESPN2

ESPN Events Invitational (Lake Buena Vista, FL)- Miami

Miami has been playing well behind the duo of McGusty and Wong. They play Dayton on Thanksgiving Day at Noon on ESPN2. If things go the way they are expected to, they will get a chance for a huge upset on Friday against Kansas. Miami could really boost their resume for a potential NCAA Tournament bid if they can pick up a couple of wins.

Baha Mar Bahamas Championship (Nassau, Bahamas)- Louisville

Louisville is the second ACC team that will be spending Thanksgiving in the Bahamas. This is a strong field. All four of these teams should either be in the field of 68 or on the bubble come March. The Cardinals have a chance to pick up 2 nice wins that will help their tournament resume.

Thursday November 25th

Maryland/Richmond 7 PM CBS Sports Network

Louisville/Mississippi State 9:30 CBS Sports Network

Saturday November 27th

Championship 10 AM CBS Sports Network

Consolation 12:30 PM FloHoops

Emerald Coast Classic (Niceville, FL)- Wake Forest

As long as Wake Forest can take care of business against Kennesaw State tomorrow, they will be 5-0 on the year when they head to Florida. They get to open up play against an Oregon State team that made a surprising run to the Elite Eight last year.

Friday November 26th

Penn State/LSU 7 PM CBS Sports Network

Wake Forest/Oregon State CBS Sports Network
